The Pogues Play The Hits Tour just got a bit bigger with the addition of an extra London date due to demand.
The legendary Irish band's founding members James Fearnley, Jem Finer and Spider Stacy will now conclude the run with a performance at the O2 Forum Kentish Town on December 15, while their earlier London show on December 5 will be at the O2 Academy Brixton.
The tour will also head to venues in Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Utrecht, Portsmouth, Nottingham, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Dublin, Belfast and Killarney between November 19 and December 12.
The shows will find the band digging into The Pogues discography to play favourites such as Fairytale of New York, Dirty Old Town, A Pair of Brown Eyes, Rainy Night in Soho, and If I Should Fall From Grace With God. The Pogues said:
“After the incredible reaction to our recent anniversary shows, we wanted to take the celebration even further — we hope you’ll come along, it will most definitely be worth it.”
Tickets for the new London date go on general sale at 10am on Wednesday (April 1). All other dates are on sale now.
In related news, it was announced in mid-March that a Shane MacGowan tribute album will be released on November 13. '20th Century Paddy - The Songs of Shane MacGowan' features covers of the late Pogues frontman's tracks by Bruce Springsteen, Camille O’Sullivan, Damien Dempsey, David Gray, Dropkick Murphys, Hozier and Jessie Buckley, Johnny Depp and Imelda May, Kate Moss, Primal Scream, The Libertines, The Pogues, and Tom Waits, among others.
